St Francis Hall Monastery Engagement Session Washington DC Wedding
St Francis Hall Monastery Engagement Session Washington DC Wedding
Judy and Joseph’s engagement session was at St Francis Hall “a charming event venue built in 1931 and featuring romantic Renaissance architecture located adjacent to the beautiful Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in Washington, DC.”
HOW AND WHERE DID YOU MEET?
Judy: “We were both invited to go ice-skating at the Galleria with other freshmen from the University of Dallas. My skate got caught on a large crevice in the ice, and I fell very spectacularly. I was not hurt except for a cut on my chin, but Joe and his best friend helped me off the ice anyway. It must have been a good thing too, because even though I remember falling, I don’t actually remember getting off the ice. We were friends after that.”
HOW LONG WERE YOU ENGAGED BEFORE GETTING MARRIED?
Judy: “We were engaged for a year, but we have been dating for two years and have known each other for six. We met at the University of Dallas during our freshmen year and Joe transferred to West Point before our sophomore year. We stayed in touch, writing letters to each other during Joe’s first year at West Point. He then had a few internships in D.C. over the summer where I am from. Joe finally asked me out officially during my senior year of college. He flew down once a month and took me on a variety of fun dates such as canoe trips, horseback-riding, the symphony orchestra, and out to dinner, of course. A year later we became engaged, and it has been a lot of fun since then, preparing for the wedding!”
HOW AND WHERE DID YOU GET ENGAGED?
Judy: “We got engaged at the Franciscan Monastery. I was jet-lagged because it was the day after I had returned from working for a month in Spain (I was still a little out of it from all the traveling). Joe had told me in advance that we were going to mass and then to dinner. While at the Franciscan Monastery, he gave me a large, beautiful bouquet of flowers, walked me to the middle of the Spanish-style courtyard, and got down on one knee. His proposal was like him: straightforward, simple, and sweet, and I shouted YES and hugged him before he could open the ring box. We went to a really nice dinner by the Chesapeake Bay after that. It’s a great memory!”
HONEYMOON SPOT?
Judy: “Hawaii”
Unfortunately, Joe is in the field for a month and didn’t get a chance to respond to these questions. However, Judy is confident that she can vouch for him.
