With so many great venues around Washington, DC, we know that it’s hard to choose the best for your wedding day. After our recent post about some of our favorites…we thought we’d spend some more time highlighting the crown jewel of the Federal Triangle, The Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium!

The Legendary Columns of the Stately Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium

The stately Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium stands tall as one of the three buildings in the Federal Triangle. It was designed by architect Arthur Brown, Jr. and erected in the early 1930s. The auditorium’s seven stories of white-washed limestone, legendary columns, and red terra-cotta roof tiles make it the highlight of the Triangle. Encompassing almost six acres and stretching across 1,000 feet of prime Constitution Avenue space, this building certainly makes a statement. Due to its elegance and central location in Washington, DC, it has become a coveted wedding venue for brides and grooms.

If you’re impressed by the outside, the inside might be even more dazzling! With seemingly mile-high ceilings, rows of columns, and ornate details the space carries its own elegance. But when you dress it up with your wedding theme and lighting, it looks even more spectacular. The space best accommodates between 200-600 guests. It offers staff and security for your event, but you are responsible for all vendors and rentals.

If you are short on time but in love with the Mellon, no worries! The green rooms are perfect for 100 guests are fewer and can only be reserved 45 days prior to the event. (The green rooms are included on the entire building rental for larger, reserved weddings.)

Call them or take a tour to see if it’s right for you. We love the building because it has amazing lighting, built-in props, and unique backdrops. Wedding photography always looks exceptional here!
