Clare and Corey at Constitution Gardens

“Constitution Gardens is a park area in Washington, D.C. located on the National Mall between 18th and 19th Streets NW and between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. Constitution Gardens occupies 50 acres of landscaped grounds including a small pond, which contains an island open to pedestrians. Trees and benches line the paths to create a tranquil atmosphere and a perfect spot for a picnic.”  – About.com and NPS

Clare and Corey met in high school in their hometown of Madison, Connecticut.  The couple started dating while still in high school and continued to date long distance during their college years.  The soon to be bride and groom dated for 8 years before their engagement.

How and where did you get engaged?

“We went for a walk on Roosevelt Island the first Sunday afternoon in May. We took a break and sat on a park bench when Corey all of a sudden got down on one knee! We spent the rest of the day calling family/friends and then we celebrated with dinner downtown.”

Tell us about your wedding day plans?

“Clare will spend the morning getting her hair and makeup done with her sisters and friends in the wedding party. Corey may play a round of golf but either way they will meet at St. Peter’s on Capitol Hill! After the “I Do’s” they will tour around town in a trolley car and head to the St. Regis Washington, D.C. to catch the outdoor cocktail reception. After a seated dinner with some entertaining speeches they will dance the night away with a live band and some late night donuts.”

What are you most excited about your wedding?

Clare:  “EVERYTHING! But if I have to be specific…I daydream about the first few minutes as a married couple when we walk down the aisle hand-in-hand and then later when we walk into the reception and are introduced as Mr. and Mrs. for the first time.”

Corey “I’m also excited about everything. But what I’m most excited about is when the church doors open and I first see Clare as she starts to walk down the aisle.”

Clare and Corey’s engagement session at Constitution Gardens was amazing!  I’m so excited to be photographing the couple’s wedding in a few months and witnessing their family and friends celebrating their union as husband and wife.
