DC Marriage Proposal Photographer Georgetown | Part 1
To us, fall is the season of love. The red and orange leaves throughout DC and the surrounding areas paint a stunningly romantic backdrop. The crisp air creates a distinct vibe that somehow makes things look fresh and vibrant.
While our team at Wedding Photojournalism by Rodney Bailey loves capturing beautiful weddings (especially in the fall!), we specialize in photojournalistic images, which includes documenting the whole journey. In between weddings, you will find us shooting surprise proposals and engagement portraits, too! You deserve to have your love story told from start to finish.
This was a true surprise proposal. Maura may have had an inkling that this day was coming, but judging by her astonished expression and huge smile, I don’t think she knew what Keith had up his sleeve. He chose the most beautiful sunny day to explore the Dumbarton Oaks estate in Georgetown with his best friend. They toured the gardens and enjoyed the perfect weather leisurely together. In the meantime, we set up behind one of the stone walls and waited for the magic moment.
Once they arrived at Dumbarton Oaks, Keith guided Maura through the rose garden and down into the Fountain Terrace. He found in intimate spot on the green lawn surrounded by trees showing off their fall colors. It was just the two of them – not a single person was around. He knew this was it. After pausing and taking Maura’s hands, he got down on one knee and asked her if she would spend forever with him. She responded with an emphatic, “Yes!” and the sweetest kiss. We let them share their moment together a little longer, and then popped out to take a few more closeup portraits of the newly engaged couple and her sparkling ring.
Congratulations, Keith and Maura! What an honor it was to capture this moment for you!
Stay tuned for their engagement session in Part II!
