Fall Time! | Family Session Photographers Northern Virginia

Fall really is one of the most picturesque times of the year, and that means two things…beautiful leaves and family photography sessions. There is just something about capturing the turning of the leaves that makes a family photo! The varying ranges of rich yellow, orange, and red hues of the leaves provide such beautiful backdrops. The lighting in the fall brings out the colors in the foliage and creates beautiful natural light for great family photographs.

We chose to take advantage of the gorgeous great outdoors during this time of year for this family photography session. We found a beautiful clearing set against the backdrop of a forest wall of trees. I was excited about having the light shine through in the clearing and also having it bounce off the yellows of the trees in the background. I love the wardrobe this family chose too! The golden yellow played so nicely with the yellowing leaves and the deep navy blue popped in the light from the setting sun. It really brought the whole picture together.

This family was so fun to photograph – thank you, Vanessa and Neal! Their little girl had such a great time running around the clearing and playing in the leaves. I can still hear her giggles as Dad was tossing her up in the air. My favorite picture is the one of the family of three (at least for the next few months…more on that later!) walking hand in hand. The light coming through the stand alone tree shines beautifully on the young family. I can picture them taking so many more walks as a family as the years go by. I couldn’t be happier to capture these photographs for this wonderful family!
