By doing a simple image search on Google, you will quickly see why we love Oxon Hill Manor so much. The sprawling mansion built in 1929 displays tall white columns against dark red brick. The home provides expansive views of the beautifully landscaped property from the balconies. The manor includes two outbuildings (nice for outdoor weddings), a greenhouse, stables, formal gardens, and a reflecting pool. The mansion sits high on a hill, and the property spreads across 55 acres of picturesque landscape in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Most weddings, especially with larger guest lists, take place out on the lush lawn. Underneath a transparent tent or sheer ceiling drapes, guests can mix and mingle post-ceremony as sunlight streams in. Some couples even have beautiful floral arrangements or small chandeliers hanging from the top for a more formal feel. Serene gardens with views of the Potomac River provide an intimate setting for a first look and a gorgeous natural backdrop for portraits.
The interior of the mansion is just as stunning. With 49 elegant, stately rooms, you’ll be sure to get a collection of timeless wedding portraits. The wood floors, sparking chandeliers, and classic staircase make it feel even more romantic. The bridal room has tall windows and an oversized, full-length mirror for sufficient natural lighting as she and her party get ready, while the white crowned molding and cream-colored walls make the room feel even more “bridal.”
Unlike many of our other features located in the heart of DC, this one a great choice if you’re looking for something off the beaten path, and it’s still only 20 minutes from DC (just off the Woodrow Wilson Bridge).
