Real Weddings – Caitlin and Mark (Sequoia Restaurant)

Caitlin and Mark described their wedding day as personal, traditional, elegant and fun!  Their wedding ceremony took place in Georgetown at Epiphany Catholic Church with a reception at Sequoia Restaurant located in Washington Harbour.  Caitlin and Mark had a sign made up for the reception’s entrance that said “With heartfelt joy we welcome you to the best day ever” – which summed up how they felt about the day perfectly.

Describe your overall Wedding Theme?

“We wanted a wedding that was traditional and classic, but still personal, intimate, and fun. Given that it was a spring wedding, we stuck to very neutral colors – pale pink, ivory, and gold.”

What was the biggest surprise of your Wedding?

“How wonderful the actual wedding ceremony was! We knew we would have an amazing time at the reception, but we were both surprised by how much we enjoyed the actual ceremony – saying our vows while being surrounded by all of our family and friends. We had a traditional Catholic mass, so we were so happy that it still felt personal to us.”

Special detail of your Wedding?

“We wanted to make sure to thank all of our guests for celebrating with us, but knew we would never be able to spend time with everyone over the course of the evening – so we wrote a heartfelt note of thanks which we included at the top of the menus. It was a small gesture, but hopefully it conveyed how happy we were to have everyone there!”

What was the most memorable part of your Wedding Day?

Caitlin“The moment when the doors to the church opened and I saw Mark for the first time.  I knew walking down the aisle would be special, but I was completely unprepared for how overwhelmed by love and emotion I would be.  I know there were nearly 200 other people in that church, but the only person I saw was Mark.”

Mark “How beautiful Caitlin’s dress was. It exceeded all expectations.  Also, Caitlin and I took a few moments at the reception by ourselves. We stood on the balcony overlooking the dance floor and watched all of our family and friends having a great time. It was an amazing moment.”
