The Warner Theatre stands strong in historic downtown Washington D.C. Opening its doors in the thick of the roaring 20s, The Warner Theatre, formally known as The Earle Theatre, was an attraction for all from top to bottom, literally. The basement formerly served as a restaurant and ballroom, the rooftop hosted many garden parties, and of course the main floor consisted of the theatre, the main attraction. In the mid 1940s, the owner, Harry Warner of Warner Brothers, set his sights on having the venue host strictly movies only. Because he wanted to make his mark on the east coast, he decided to change the name on the marque to his name. Thus, The Earle Theatre became The Warner Theatre.
The theatre still boasts its rich history through the magnificent detail work throughout the interior. Beautiful gilded, vaulted ceilings set the stage when you enter the foyer. Antique crystal chandeliers hang from the remarkable ceiling. Rays of light bounce off the gorgeous crystals and gold leaf paintings creating a breathtaking scene. Moving into the theatre, the magnificent ceilings continue. The center of the room hosts an extraordinary chandelier that lights up the room. Magnificent stained glass lights illuminate each corner while outlining the beautiful artwork.
The rooftop garden continues to be a hotspot. Surrounded by lush, rich greenery, it is the perfect location to enjoy cocktails while mingling amongst friends or coworkers. Ivy scales the trellis on the back wall while grasses outline the balcony. With covered seating, this outdoor oasis provides a perfect atmosphere year round.
Whether you are looking to host a wedding, corporate function, or a private concert, The Warner Theatre offers more than just an event, but an experience for your guests. If you’re interested in the Warner Theater hosting your next event, click here!
