Washington DC Cherry Blossom Wedding Photographers at Decatur House
This lovely and well-respected couple went back to where their love story began to tie the knot. CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan and Major Yado Yakub actually met in 1998 while they were both attending the University of Virginia. But as fate would have it, they ran into each other again in 2013 on a busy street in DC. They quickly reconnected, and they haven’t looked back since! It didn’t take long for them to both realize it was meant to be, and he proposed at the university a year later.
About this sweet couple
Their love for DC allowed them to fall in love with each other, so it made sense to say, “I do!” outside of the Decatur House during the height of cherry blossom season in April. The Decatur House is a historic house museum located just one block from the White House, so it was the perfect location for their elegantly classic wedding, which was featured on the blog at Brides.com!
Their classic red, white, and navy colors fit the theme and location perfectly. We loved all of the calla lily, hydrangea, and tulip arrangements and bouquets done by the incredibly talented Barbara Von Elm of Growing Wild. Their wedding planner Jeannette Travares of EVOKE did a fantastic job of pulling the theme together for the special couple and their guests, and she was absolutely wonderful to work with!
Occasions Caterers designed five beautiful cakes for guests to choose from, including delectable flavors such as carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and marble cake with dulce de leche frosting while Perfect Settings helped pull the look together with the outdoor tables and settings.
Needless to say, we truly loved photographing this magical day for such a special couple! How about the perfect ending…who doesn’t love a sparkler departure?
