The Perfect Start to this Willard Wedding | Washington DC Wedding Photography
Getting Ready and First Looks have become an important part of wedding day photography. Gone are the days of only savoring the most perfect pictures on your wedding day. Now, some of the bride and groom’s favorite photographs are the little moments captured by photographers when everyone forgets we are there. We get to be the wallflowers that show the bride all the tender moments her groom went through getting ready to greet her at the end of the aisle. And we get to show the groom all the emotions and excitement the bride went through getting ready to walk towards her future husband.
No longer is it bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding. In fact, it is now encouraged. First Looks allow the bride and groom to have some intimate moments with each other before all the festivities kick off. It is a nice way of reminding each other what their big day is really all about. However, First Looks can also be done between the bride and her father. Courtney and Kenny chose to forego a First Look with each other, but Courtney, always a Daddy’s Little Girl, chose to have one with her dad. I was so glad I was able to capture such a precious moment.
For those keeping with tradition, as this bride and groom did, they chose to do a First Moment but without looking at each other. I love the picture of their moment of grounding with one another in a private room. They were able to relax for a moment in cozy chairs sitting back to back and exchange their vows. Courtney and Kenny’s wedding was held at the Willard and St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Washington D.C. After getting ready with their wedding parties and sharing tender moments with those they love most, they were ready for their big day and the rest of their lives together.
